Detroit Engine in my opinion, much cheaper in parts and labor.

Don’t buy a Lonestar. The air filter assembly clips on, lets dirt bypass the air filter and dusts the engine.

Having only lived in the prostar/LT I have to admit that looking at other trucks makes me claustrophobic. For single driver trucks the prostar type cabinets give lots of storage and an open feel when every other truck seems to box you in with cabinets between the bed and cab.

Every engine has its pros and cons. I would be more concerned with the specific care and maintenance given to the truck you are considering.

All machines are man made, possible to get a lemon from any manufacturer. Find a well maintained truck of your choice specked for what’s important to you, drive it and maintain it.
