A few thoughts on this Entertaining thread.
    CB from a trucker's perspective.
There are more cbs in trucks than you think. I run mostly southeast to midwest and normally get 3-4 comebacks on a radio check. Lots of guys keep them squelched because they are more interested in what's on xm or their phone. CB saves my butt pretty much daily by monitoring ch 19. I hear about accidents and backups before the hit google maps, speed traps, weather, etc. Also, guys will tell you if you have a problem. Side box open, forgot winch bar on the deck, tarp/strap coming loose, blown brake chamber, and etc. My setup has paid for itself thousands of times. How many times have I approached a shipper and not sure which drive to take when a voice comes over ch 19? CB is a valuable and necessary tool for me. Also, I've never seen a sign at a shipper saying that they monitor anything other than cb. I have noticed that more shippers are actually using cb with the covid plandemic goin on.

The decline comes fron xm radio and Bluetooth. But a big issue is how many drivers are English challenged. Big problem there on many levels.

    GMRS
Jeep guys here in East Tennessee use a mix of cb and gmrs. Gmrs kinda got started from guys using baofengs then a few guys bought mobile units. Baofengs are popular because many of the vehicles are trailered and the handheld is transferred from tow to off road vehicles. Haven't run across anyone who has a license, but I have only asked a few guys about that.

    Just my .02

Yes. If CB's were not selling, the truck stops would use the valuable display case for something else

Selling them and having them are one thing. Using them is another. LOL

I agree, there are far more CB's in use than GMRS radios.. But, CB has had a 50 year head start...

The reason for the thread was to offer an alternative to CB (A.K.A. HF RADIO). GMRS is in the UHF Spectrum and is easier to setup for the DIYer installer. NO Skip on GMRS, some may like that while others hate it. It's just another tool for the box, but because of licensing requirements and other perceived limitations, it will probably never be attractive to the commercial driver..
