Will moving violation for lack of registration disqualify me for CDL?

Hey so I am scheduled to go to the DMV to obtain my CDL permit in three days. While driving tonight was driving my personal car and I was pulled over and given a citation for not having registration on my vehicle. I did have a registration at one point however it has been more than six months since I got it reinstated. I’m just wondering because I read online that this can be escalated to a moving violation if the officer wanted to. He said that he would be willing to work with me but I’m just bracing for the worst. My question is if I were to get this as a moving violation but that isWould that disqualify me from being able to find a job in the future even though the moving violation is due to lack of registration? Also I have no other tickets other than a citation for dark tint on my personal car I have no criminal history or past neither personal or with my motor vehicle. Ive never been in a car accident and my license has never been suspended.

No need to worry about registration, sometimes people forget. Happened to me once leaving work before getting my cdl and the officer told me he could have towed my car due to the registration being expired for 6 months, but just got a ticket. Don't recall seeing it on my MVR either.

I can't add anything further because all the comments so far are right! I just wanted to remind you of one important point about registrations as it relates to truckers. The average OTR trucker is doing a drop & Hook at least once a week. I averaged almost two a week. You MUST develop the habit of checking the trailer registrations to make sure they are there AND have not expired. IF you come across one that has expired DO NOT place that trailer on the road until this has been fixed and you have the new registration in the box on the front of the trailer.

NEVER assume your carrier will place new IFTA stickers on your tractor. I used to take my permit book into our permits office every time I was in the home terminal and got my permits updated.

I bring this up because you seem to have an issue with remembering to do this on your POV. Not jumping on you. I am just giving you a friendly heads up to develop these habits when it comes to permits and other paperwork. For example, to EVEN make an alcohol delivery in the state of Maryland you had to have an originally issued card. A "copy" was not acceptable. I can't remember how many times I had to be on the receiving end of a repower because a driver neglected to keep these cards up.

That permit book is VITAL to you as a driver. Keep it current. Fail to do so and it's not a matter of if, it becomes a matter of when you get caught.

Not sure about your state, but here an expired reg is not a moving violation, so no points on the license. Get that reg renewed asap to show the court, ask for forgiveness, and perhaps the judge will go easy on you with the fine. As far as dqing you for a job, naw, I doubt it.

Moose is right about ensuring everything is legal that you pull, as it all falls on you as the driver. Years ago it wasn't this way, but no more...

Lack of a registration is not a moving violation, I don't care what the cop says or wants.

Also just an extra note. When in a car an expired registration is just a ticket and the cop let you drive it home and go about your merry way. In a cmv it may mean a ticket, a ding on license and a possible but not necessarily an OOS and you will not be able to move the truck until proof is shown.
Keep up with the papers. They will always ask you for your papers. Lol!

New Jersey impounds the truck and trailer...just for daring to drive on their roads without registration..

Can amount to over $700.00 to tow you there Plus the pound of flesh you need to get it released...
