No, I am not a big fan of dry bulk but if the miles are good and there's nothing else going on I am game.
And I am sure they will love your previous dry bulk experience. The liquid bulk can be introduced later on, I guess .

Something I never considered until now is that I'll probably have to wear pants a lot more, I'm assuming. I like the comfort of wearing shorts in the summer, but it's not a deal breaker I guess. I've seen a lot of tanker drivers wearing overalls too, is that required at a lot of places?

Proper PPE will be a must at chemical plants and/or refineries. Elliot wants us wearing the shirt uniform at all times while at work. But I see plenty of drivers wearing shorts while on the road. Coveralls are also needed when customers ask for it. I have only worn the chemical suit to one specific customer. I have been with Elliot since July 2019. So far, so good.

You will be waiting around a lot longer with liquids, well food grade liquids I can't speak for other types. Hour and a half is a quick load or unload, some products can take 4 or 5 hours to unload, just depends on the pumps at the facilities etc.

And then there are tank washouts. Figure on 1.5 to 2 hrs from start to finish. Food grade tanker isn't a field for someone who likes to run and knock out miles.

A 13 speed. That's my truck in the photo I posted earlier.

    True.
With Elliot it's 90% drop the dirty trailer and hook up to a clean one at the tankwash. In over a year I can count on one hand the times I sat and waited for the washout. But there's no such thing as a perfect job, at least that's how I see it.

It will vary from company to company of course also depends on product you have been hauling. Either way tank washes are a long wait. There is a reason so many of them have driver lounges, showers and laundry facilities. They know you could be there for hours.

I want to clarify, what I meant was I don't like the unloading process of dry bulk when I said I don't like standing around. This is trucking after all, so I expect waiting pretty much no matter which type of trucking I'm in. I definitely do some waiting here and there even with dry van.

Probably a dumb question, but do companies ever pay for waiting for a tank wash?
