I can relate.

Took some state sponsored career training a while back. Just could not envision staring at a monitor for 10 or more hours a day. So went and got my CDL.

I remember days like that. Only rental I could find in Custer SD that would take my cats. Trailer house with a fireplace. Had a good source of firewood. Every two weeks on payday. I’d call him. He’d bring a long bed p/u filled as full as possible with wood. That was 1/2 cord.
I still went through $900 worth of propane that winter.

 

I had a few awful landlords.
One I didn’t have. Looked at a house. Disrepair. Window broken on garage door. Other things. Standing right there in front yard. Asked her about repairs? She said: “My tenants stay an average of 6years.” While holding her hand out for the money. I walked away.
That trailer in Custer was a joke. Idiot would show up threatening me. Never gave him any reason to believe I was anything but reasonable and agreeable. We have a Castle Doctrine law in SD. I had a right to shoot his idiot on the spot.
An apartment that kept lying to raise my costs.
I finally just bought a home.

 

I have no problem with Holidays. Everyone I truly cared about. They have passed.
Do have some fun goofy and otherwise things happen on holidays.
The Santa who came into a gym at 3am Xmas morning. Told me he had to work his dunk off. Or his wife would castrates him in the morning.
This last year. I got to break into the office at Crete at 9pm Xmas eve. That was to get my paperwork. Then the cops out that night. Few cars I saw were speeding big time. Cops pulling them over. I appreciated the cops so much keeping it safe out there. I got home 5am Xmas morning.
If I lived in Arkansas, I’d probably be married. Met a couple gals there. They talked very real. From deep down inside. No deception in them.

Not that I had kids, but the road was REALLY starting to take a toll on me those last two years at ABF. I felt like life was passing me by.

Going "local" was everything I needed.

 

Hey neighbor just heal up I'm sure you will find better interests down the road.

 

Woke up to 51 and light rain. Figured it was a good time to fire off the bunk heater.

I usually aim to start checking the winter stuff around labor day. And finish up in Oct. At some point wI'll need to lay out and inspect the chains.
