Maybe different kind of question, but what should the tire pressure/ load rating be in correlation to the weight of front end of the truck? If my front end weighs 12,100 lbs and with those G rated tires (which i previously had) at their limits its load capacity is 12,350 lbs @ 105psi.. that is not leaving much of a margin and basically having the tire maxed out all the time. How many pound capacity over your actual weight is ideal? I just put Michelin H rated tires on front 110psi = 12,640lbs, 115psi = 12,930lbs, and 120psi = 13,220lbs....
When do you get too much pressure for the weight?
The drives at 105psi are rated 23,360lbs so they clearly run a bit over their duty load by a lot if your limit is 20,000lbs..... versus steers which are only a couple hundred.

No such thing as too much pressure as far as the tires are concerned. It takes somewhere over 300 psi to blow a tire, the rim however will buckle somewhere around 150 psi depending on what’s stamped on the rim. The only consideration for higher pressure on the tire is ride quality and you may get different tire wear.

Rule of thumb for steer tires is to check the sidewall. 16 ply are 120 usually 14 ply are 110. I run 100 on the rest

    farmerjohn64 Thanks this.
