Gee, at one time in the US it was a given. You give a company your hard earned work and in return they took care of you in retirement.

Now the wages are crap and the benefits aren't what they used to be either. While CEO's and executive pay have gone through the roof.

The average American is trained that we are lazy and need to work harder. When in reality Americans are hard workers and are barely making it.

Someone working 40 hrs a week should be able to pay for basic necessities no matter where they work. (An average house/apt, decent car, food, healthcare etc)

When they raise minimum wage they should increase all workers pay by the same amount. For example: minimum wage workers wages increase to $15 an hour ($600 wk before Ded. 15x40=600) then my wages should increase $7 more an hour because I have a skill job. It would not cost the prices of goods to go up to either. That is a myth. It will though cut into what the CEO'S make though. Instead of them making 5 mil a year they make 2.5 mil a year. Oh no, how will they survive? :(

If you consider the average rent for a 1 bedroom apt is $1000 a month w/no frills. Then add in food, utilities, gas, daycare, car ins, health insurance.

If they do a cost of living raise, yes the first year or so it will be a sticker shock, (for the companies) but after that if they do a cola raise for everyone it wouldn't be that much.

I am also talking about big business for the most part. The small mom and pop companies try to pay well and their CEO'S pay is in aligned with employees pay.

Well let's say plant will have 500 workers who assemble trucks.
    They have families...
So they buying products that you deliver by truck...
More products they buy more job you have , more job you have, more money you have.
And more job have people who making food for those families who working at plants and they can buy product , who worker at plan make.
    Circle of money ^_^.

If plant working at Mexico- you pretty much have only 1 short benefit. Cheap price. But in long run...completely different

My gorgeous white Volvo was assembled at New River plant from parts made all around the World. Mostly China. Countless repairs and bad fuel mileage.
Mexico made Freightliner is much more reliable and profitable to run.

There's a big difference no one has mentioned...."assembled in Mexico" VS. "made in Mexico". Are the Cummins and Detroit engines made in Mexico ? How about the seats ? The window glass, the tires, the rims , the frame, the fuel tanks, The tranny ? I would guess NOT. However I would say the electrical wiring and lights are made in China ! And then imported to Mexico and "assembled" there. Hyundai trailers are made in Tijuana but what actually gets imported there and then assembled there.

    You are correct, completely.

That right there is precisely why people need to stop worrying about China and war with them, because it's never going to happen. Both countries are too dependent on each other. We pay them, and they give us toys.

No more cell phones, curved computer monitors, fancy TVs, toliet paper, etc etc etc... it will never happen. No one wants to be in charge when this country is told no more toys. No one.

And who in China wants to tell 8 billion Chinese funds are reduced by a fraction of 10? No one.

SO.... you are upset about everything being made in China? Just keep what I told you in mind. Yes, we are not making that stuff anymore. But us buying stuff goes a LONG way to preventing conflict. So there's that bit of good news. Ignore the nonsense you read in the news, that's posturing, chest-thumping, and theatrics. It's always going to happen. But that's all it's going to be because both countries are improving our standards of living. We give them money, they give us junk we like for cheaper.

I touched on this a bit with my first post. A HUGE difference between an assembly plant and where the parts are made. I would also mention this along with the fact these parts can be assembled from subassemblies that could come from anywhere. In fact, sometimes these subassemblies can come from the lowest bidder and could come from just about anywhere.

The thing is this dynamic is at play with a lot of things. I have picked up Hershey products from confectioner makers from one side of the country to another. Hershey buys line extra capacity! YEP! these assemblies and parts makers do this as well! I know this for a fact because I have hauled them!
