Those salads always look soooo good. Do you have them with every meal? They’re always in your dinner photos.

I think I woulda mentioned that if so.

But nah. He was the only dude there. So if he's not in the trailer unloading me, nobody else is either.

Brain is trying to kill me. Managed to get two hours of sleep since Thursday. And not for lack of trying. Normally I'm out like a light within 10 minutes of my head hitting the pillow, but not these past two nights.

The really annoying thing about this is that, despite my sleep deprived state, despite how groggy I am, I still won't be able to sleep until tonight sometime. I could lay in the bunk all day trying to sleep, and I'd just be lying there awake the whole time. This little feature of my brain is why I avoid overnight loads whenever possible.

Load I'm on is destined for the yard. Doesn't actually deliver until next week sometime. Told dispatch I was in no condition to be driving and would be parking the truck for the day and would have the trailer at the yard tomorrow.

They said "Rock and roll, we'll see you then". And that, my friends, is one of the reasons I'm still driving for Abilene.

When I was in the Navy I could sleep anywhere and anytime. I have slept on the nonskid of the hangar deck. I would fall right to sleep with a jet in full tension two levels above me. Now though not so much. Age caught up with me.

Over the years I’ve become immune to anything that resembles noises associated with trucking. Take last night for instance. I woke up before the alarm went off. Got up, made the bed, started the coffee, washed up, brushed my teeth, made my coffee then sat down planning my attack for the day. All at 0430. As I’m sitting and enjoying my coffee I realized that on one side of me the truck had a bad air compressor and the air dryer is going off every minute. The other side had a reefer unit starting and stopping. The final noise maker going off was some dude fell asleep with his heavy based stereo thumping and bumping. I’m able to sleep through all that noise, but god forbid when I get home and my wife gets out of bed before me, I’m up in a heartbeat complaining about her disturbing my sleep.

I sleep with the bunk AC blowing all night on full blast. I can't hear anything but that. I can't even hear my own reefer unit, and it's only 18 inches away. The trucks next to me might as well be on Mars for all that they impact my ability to sleep.

Sometimes, my brain just says "Nope. No sleep for you."

Most every night, yes. We shop every 5 days or so. Easy to keep fresh veggies on the truck.

Just stopping in to deliver a PSA. Please, y’all, take care of yourselves when out on the road. I mean your health. It’ll come back to bite you in the tush if you don’t (yeah, I need to practice what I’m preaching here).
Y’all remember my friend who lost his foot/leg to an infection? Well, his road has been so bumpy since then that it’s not even funny. Turns out, his blood sugar has been high and his BP has been out of control for a long time. Not just elevated, but all over the place. High as heck one minute, tanking the next. So, after a heart cath, he had open heart surgery to repair 3 blocked arteries. Recovering from that, discovered that his prostate is the size of a walnut which hasn’t been allowing him to empty his bladder properly and causing massive UTIs that sent him into septic shock. AND, as if that’s not enough, when he got home from his latest hospital stay (like the 6th one since his original one in March), his BP tanked several times again, landing him back in the ER, where it was discovered he now has-wait for it-Covid. Yep. Got it from his roommate at the VA hospital on his last stay. Now, he is back in the hospital again, this time in quarantine. So far, he doesn’t have symptoms, but his entire family where he has been staying has to be tested, including his 16 month old great grandson.
That beings the total number of people that I know personally to get Covid to 4. No one has passed due to it, thank heavens. It has just made them sick. So, just take care of yourselves.

Thumping bass drives me NUTS. It’s a sign of a lack of consideration IMHO. I use earplugs and that is one thing I can never completely eliminate.
