What I did to reset my sleep schedule while I was in the military probably won't work for truck driving...stay up for 24 hours. Your body will just want to sit down and sleep (that's why it's probably not good for driving). Now, no matter how hard I try, I sleep when the sun is up and am trying to run my errands at 24 hr stores at 2 in the am (THANK YOU WALMART). I have been on vampire schedule for almost 2 years now.
OH! And I just got off the phone with Mario in recruiting. I start school in Riverside on the 12th! Thank god! Getting out of the Navy and sitting on unemployment...talk about shock! Go from 12 hour work days to NOTHING! AHHH!!! I am scratching at the walls.

I left Central in 07, due to family health issues. Now they won't take me back. So after I start on monday with CRE, and if I can get through 6mo's of hell, hopefully I can go back.

I have one of those Garmin Truck GPS. They are not as great as they claim, mine has several big bugs, but I love it more than I loved my previous Garmin, and I adored that one.
Sprint is not unlimited, everyone is 5 gigs now. We're grandfathered under the unlimited, but if you really talk to them, they did away with it, and it's a 5gig cap like everyone else.rakusa Thanks this. -
If they've opened it up to hire drivers with experience, you're going to need to lease a truck to get on with them.

I was looking at the one that came out this month from Rand McNally also.
It has allot of driver tools on it, but maybe too much lol.
Same price as the Garman, but who knows what company they had make the unit. So you don't know if the manufacturer of the unit is decent quality or not. Looks like it does all the same things as the Garmin plus some.
Allot of which I would not use.
I need to give both some time to see how they work after a few updates. If I were to go out and buy one now I would probibly go with the McNally one. -
Maybe this has already been mentioned earlier, noticed today from a FB link that Central has redone their driver recruitment site. Does this mean they are looking ahead to hire more drivers or is it to push their lease program?
-
I think it has more to do with needed to redo the page.
Allot of the info was outdated.
Driver pay was incorrect. The trucks in use was incorrect, ect.
Also in my opinion the new page looks better and is more professionally done than the old one.
So they are basicly trying to put a nice pretty new professional look to the same old info.
Plus with the way they have it now with there 4 step thing it looks more like CRE. Imagine that. I bet if I checked the CRE site is probably redone also, and by the same web design company.
Nope, just checked the CRE one, not redone the same. Still was probibly the same ppl that did theirs though.Irishtrucker Thanks this. -
Ok we passed our driving test so we will begin orientation Mon,Tues, and Weds.It was kinda close as mama had two strikes out of three so she had one more shot at the road test. It was a real nail biter but we are DONE and I am very proud of her. We had 24 out of 25 passed and we strarted two weeks ago with 64 people. AAnother student took these pics at the school, hotel, and while riding in the truck.http://cid-806b9a7a56b308e7.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/Central

It will be interesting to see how long it takes them to get the trainers there for that many passes in a week.
Ok.
I admit it.
I should have taken the job I was offered a few weeks ago. Now I cannot find much.
SOOOO
I am throwing away my pride, and I will most likely be going to an Orentation at a large company a week from Monday.
I am really really not happy. But I cannot let my layoff hit the 6 month mark. I have to get back to work.
So I have one more peace of paperwork I have to send in on Monday, but I am sceduled to go to Orientation at Heartland a week from monday. I can find bad things about them on this site, but none out of the Columbus Terminal. I am hopeing that will be my saving grace. Plus it is regional, so I should be home several weekends a month.
Even if the miles are low, I can pay the bills on what I am making on unemployment lol. So it will not be that low.
Then when the economy starts to change I can decide if I want to stay there or go back to my last company. Or another.
I will let you guys know what happens with it. I need to work though, and I must keep my CDL current with as much recent OTR as possable. Once I go thru orentation I will post how things go in there section. With some updates here as well. Only thing I heard bad from there Northeast drivers when I have met them is lack of emptys at times. But they lowered there driver base this past spring by 300, by not hireing as many. Also they are just maintaining now to keep the miles consistant. So we shall see.
GZ on passing your test BTW.
And let the others know that they have people here hopeing they can hack it and really like the road. I really do.
