2290 Heavy Tax Form

I had heard horror stories of inheriting an unpaid 2290, when buying a Truck. But in 96, when I did, the IRS told Me, I was only liable from the time I bought it. Which made sense. I really don’t know, if or when it was a problem. I guess they used to hold up Title work or something, since I’d heard a lot about needing a paid copy, from the previous Owner. Wasn’t an issue though.

 

Yeah right you would just pay for months you own and run the truck up to the new fiscal year that they want another 550. But if previous owner already paid then some months would have been paid twice. But either way it isn't huge money. 45 bucks a month if thats the way they prorate it? The government may use a special formula or calculation. You know the 1 for you 2 for me type.

I've always liked Express Tax. Had to call them once about something and they were very helpful over the phone. I think it was the time the dealership put the wrong VIN on one my truck purchases but I can't remember.
