Hey that stuff looks familiar! Must be a little nerve wracking when they unload it. Easy to get damage to bare aluminum floors.

having hauled a pretty decent amount of manholes, you should always put them on some short dunnage. (strips of plywood or 2x4's). not only does that help concentrate the weight in a smaller area, but it keeps the bottom of the manholes from chipping as the trailer flexes as you go down the road.

I don't have an answer to that question. But could you lay two rows of 2x12's along your trailer from front to back to set the rocks on, or is that a stupid idea?

1/4 or 3/8 plywood will protect your deck.
Bonus it will last 4 or 5 loads before getting holes through and need replacing, the trailer owner should be happy to spend $75 to $100 divided by 5 loads to save an aluminum deck.
A wood deck will survive 30 to 50 loads before showing severe wear but while adding 400# to your tare weight will cost less to replace.

They are on pallets already and they dont ever come in contact with the deck. My theory is its the little rocks that get wedged under the pallet when they put it on the deck and it crushes a hole in it. I have no idea tho.

They either bill back the shipper for damages, or simply see it as cost of doing business.

All the other guys im doing these loads with have the same problem. And they have been doing it a couple years , so yeah i bet they just bill the shipper... i feel bad for the other drivers tho because they own their own trailer

So we got those counter tops off this morning at some apartment complex thats being built, and reloaded some rocks... The one jobsite i took almost 20 loads to , they finally finished with their landscape...

42 total loads.. comes out to around 2 million pounds of rock
