Then that other idea off your tireguy.
The one where he claims less weight on the steers is better.
I say nay.
My viewpoint is more is better.BoxCarKidd, Shawn2130 and singlescrewshaker Thank this. -
@Shawn2130 another thing to keep in mind is the tire width. If you run in regions that rate the steer on axle, sidewall or tire width then you might have to go wider to get your rating to match what you want to carry. Thats why I ended up with 385’s(to wide) and now 315’s(just right). Oregon and Washington both say 600 pounds per inch of width so I found tires to support that so now if they wanna get picky they gotta walk further and look at my steer axle rating on the drivers door as that is technically now my lightest rating.

Singlescrewshaker:
I thought that’d be funny
Daf105paccar: I agree, more weight is better. I’m sure customers wouldn’t be happy with me hauling not much more than a tri axle dump truck if I can’t load the truck and trailer properly.
Roberts450: I did ask about 315’s with the tire guy. He said that’s $400 more a tire and not worth it.
For some odd reason he likes to push road master tires. He used to be a heavy truck shop owner and mechanic, now he’s a tire salesman. (He’s also a long time friend of mine) Road master must be paying him to sell only those tires.
He said he can get whatever I want for my trucks.singlescrewshaker Thanks this. -
If any of you are getting close to needing tires it would be wise to look ahead. Truck tires around here are starting to look similar to toilet paper six months ago.

At least we are stocked up on tires for awhile.
Hopefully debris stays away from my favourite drive tires.
In the last 2 weeks I’ve been pulling out screws, patching leaks, then a roofer knife blade, and a wheel weight from a 4 wheeler that never circle checks their vehicles.

Shawn2130 Thanks this.

Looking forward to trying a 16 ply H tire.
Has anyone tried Continental HSR2 steers? -
Shawn2130 and BoxCarKidd Thank this.

He seems to be happy with the Continental drives I’ve got and would allow me to get another set if I want them.
The one truck I used to drive had XZE2’s.
Nice tires but didn’t drive long on them as I took over the truck from a previous driver and the truck was purchased with them on.spsauerland Thanks this.
