They should ban talking to passengers, as well. Too distracting.
OTOH, I probably shouldn't give them any ideas.

What about scale houses that have a sign saying "Tune to ch 15 for instructions"? Or are they just banning using the mic? This is BEYOND stupid. Even New Jersey reworded their law banning hand held communications to exclude CB radios. What a crock.

"This is BEYOND stupid"
Actually, the very design of that particular law is to promote stupidity.
S-T-U-P-I-D
Accident, icy bridge, herd of cows in the middle of the road, drunk driver going the wrong way down the interstate, gator...etc...same stuff we see every day on every road, the only difference is, NOW you dont get a heads-up call.
Its bad enough to drive down the bigroad now and hear "BRAKECHECK!!!!" You hit the brakes, drop some gears, let the jake scream, and hope the truck behind you had his ears on. The slowest truck on the bigroad will still do major damage.
There used to be a time when we wouldnt even turn the CB off. Now you have all of these guys driving at Moron Transportation, who think, "I dont need a CB, I have my XM! My truck isnt fast enough to do the limit so I dont need to hear about anything happening on the highway, so I never turn it on."
And its Moron Transportation, in a 60 mph truck thats going to plow into stopped traffic. Its Moron Transportation that hits that icy bridge at 60 mph, panicks and jacknifes, blocking the entire bigroad. And its Moron Transportation that sits in the truckstop, hiding in the sleeper, telling everyone how he can whip everyone.
Legislators are slick. Its laws like this particular one that they pass so the general public will think that theyre actually doing something other than lining their own pockets.
If they really wanted to do something to improve road safety, they would have you make a call on your CDL roadtest, and do maneuvers via telephone. Cant drive and talk at the same time? You shouldnt be driving.REDD Thanks this. -
You might think they drive for Moron trucking or whatever. I put the blame on the morons on the cb for the fact that most no longer listen.
If you want to carry on a conversation, move to another channel. 19 can then be kept fairly quiet for alerts and such. Most would then be listening. -
roadmedic you are 110% right on that and I have a CB and turn the volume so I can hear about traffic and stuff that helps me get to were I'm going. I don't need to here about what ya'll did last night with some lot lizzard take it to another channel please and thank you

That is just frigging nuts. Well Canada just got added in with Calf. as a place I will not go. Oh wait I never did go there. lol

Well lets get it prohbited for law enforcment to use theyr radios in the their cars, no radio for truckers, no radio for cops either, no radios for highway maint crews either, lets see how they like that.

If that little dweeb from New jersey gets his way, they'll be banned outright in the US. -
