one thing I wouldn’t mind getting into is hauling telephone poles. They seem to make a lot more money than me and do less work. But I’m sure it still comes with its own set of challenges.truckdriver31, 650cat425, Blue Zombie Trucker and 3 others Thank this. -

I try to mix it up a bit.
Instead of chasing the miles on the interstate I'll take a backroads route. Usually shorter but most of the time a bit longer travel time. I like to try country cafes if I don't have a lunch with me.
I just enjoy seeing the country off the big road.truckdriver31, 650cat425, D.Tibbitt and 3 others Thank this. -
To combat boredom, I have Sirius/XM radio and listen to the talk radio shows. I also connect my phone to the truck radio via Bluetooth and listen to my favorite podcasts. I only listen to music about 5% of the time now since I've probably heard every song known to man by now.

Thats every job you will ever take. There are days you just dont want to work.
Audiobooks is a great idea because it will engage your brain in a different direction. Take a longer lunch break. Leave your truck and take a walk, or watch something on Netflix.
My own experience: i struggled with burn out a great deal at my previous career. I spent 5+ years of my 10 year career burnt to a crisp.
Dont ignore burn out. It has a wayof setting into you. Try to change something.
Also, one thing I have found that helped me a lot it saving/growing my money. If I am paying myself with every check, its harder to burn out. Living check to check with no end in sight increased my chances of burn out exponentially.
So I would strongly recommend doing something with your money besides just spending it. Educate yourself on whatever you choose, then get started. Every now and then reward yourself in the present, then the rest, pay your future. It helps, promise.Kyle G., truckdriver31, 650cat425 and 4 others Thank this. -
If you want something to keep from being bored, is thought provoking, educational and intellectually stimulating then listen to deep tracks on the satellite radio.
This week they are running replays of Dylan's theme time radio show which aired 10-15 years ago. Listen w an open mind and learn..at least for the next week. Best radio show for music geeks ever.
