Receiver won't unload my truck. Been laid over for 5 days. I need help!

    Don’t drop it at a storage place, you are still liable for damages and can be liable for losing the load.

    have you actually contacted Polaris and talked to the dock manager or the logistics manager about the issue?

    have you told the broker that they will be paying out detention pay?

    My Goodness. Another TQL horror story and they've always been so kind to me.
    I would also go beyond broker - receiving manager (glorified term of a receiving clerk) axis and try to plea to someone with more authoritative power and more dignity - the two come often together - to resolve the obviously unfair impass.
    Just call the CEO!

    Or his golf buddy who might be the head of purchasing department. Receiving often falls under jurisdiction of Purchasing. So you know...

    To the OP, please read this thread link. Establishing expectations before taking the load will help you in your future. And PLEASE treat that poor driver well for sticking with you during your learning curve.

    What if a load gets delayed until the following day?

    More important for a forum like that would be for the OP: @Tamlks77 to post the resolution of this trouble.
    How was it resolved and what did you do to resolve this?
    Tell us...if you can! Otherwise, this thread like many other would not be concluded and of little value.
    I above, indicated the method of what I would do - finding out who the CEO or even his secretary is and call them directly because in a similar predicament that's what I did and I was fortunate to earn sympathy of such a person.
    So that's one of the ideas for the members on this forum...
    The situation in which the OP found himself may occur to any independent owner operator, so describing the end of the story might be very helpful in terms of knowing how these things could be overcome.

    Call and/or email the broker that you booked the load with every hour, on the hour, and ask for a progress update.

    Ask for the name/number/extension of the broker's supervisor. Call him every hour.

    Google phone# for consignee. Try to get someone from receiving on the line. Nicely and politely plead your case to that person.
