I just bought a new flatbed and got temp tags from the seller. The tags have the expiration date, vin, and a shiny little holographic imagine on it. I called Nashville (im based out of TN) and they said it shouldn't be a problem but I'm looking for anyone with first hand experience with any problems or no problems at all with temp tags.
Any problem hauling freight with temp tags?

The tag for your trailer comes from the courthouse of whatever county you live in here in TN. Not sure what paperwork you need to show if you're independent (so they waive the state sales tax - copy of your operating authority maybe?) but I'm leased and they wanted to see a copy of my lease agreement to do that. It takes about 5 minutes to get your permanent plate and costs a little under a $100.

You don't need the title. All you need is the bill of sale.

I've hauled freight with a brand new truck and brand new trailer on a temp tag.
You can't get a tag without the license fees already paid. So. Paper is just as valid and legal as metal.
You'll see trailers hauling with paper all over the country.
You'll see trucks with tags in the passenger windowRunningAces Thanks this. -
Not only do you not need the title, you don't want the title. Keep that at home so if something happens you have the proof of ownership, which is what the title is.
Now registration, that's what's needed to be carried.RunningAces Thanks this. -
