Rolling in the fog wouldn't be so bad if everyone else would slow down to a safe speed.

True, everybody has a different idea about a safe speed in fog. I don't think that will change.
I had an old timer tell me that you should be able to come to a full and controlled stop in half the distance of the visibility. Seems to work.

I miss the tales of running team with Mckesson, riding wheelies in a Freightliner across PA in a blizzard while sipping on sweet tea.

I’ve shut down in dense fog more times than I have for snow. About the time my eyes start to burn I call it a night.

Exactly. Not 60+ mph when it's a couple hundred feet of visibility or less. Should be an automatic CDL suspension.

yeah I would agree. Fog would likely cause a pull over faster than snow. Can't see, and don't want a-holes plowing into your tail.

Yeah, it's your call. Once, had a delivery in Ohio, slick as snot, trucks going "in" left and right, so I shut it down, woke up around 2 am, road was deserted, couldn't count all the trucks in the ditches, but I was the only one out, and made my delivery. I think I even got an "atta boy" for that.

You're the best judge in any type of bad weather. Imho , if you're scared , you're not safe. The same goes for over confidence too. In this subject , experience will always help.

Starting out , go slow , take it easy. With experience comes skill.

Unfortunately you also have the idiots that for whatever insane reason will take their Priuses out in a snow storm.

One day I had the trailer tandem outweigh the single drive by 16K lbs, and a snow storm rolled in as soon as I left the yard. I went 30 miles and turned around and went back. A slippery highway is bad enough, but weight distribution like that on top of it is flat out dangerous.

I learned to drive in fog while in CDL school. Rolling up 285 out of Denver, 3 trucks, we got just west of Bailey, Co. when we stopped for lunch. Leaving, I was driving the lead truck, other two guys were dozing in the jump seats, instructor was passenger. Half way back we hit a fog bank near Pine Junction, for 7 miles, we were doing 10 mph with our hazards on, probably 3 dozen four wheelers behind us, myself and the instructor hugging the dash, visibility was maybe 20 ft beyond the hood ornament, then just as quickly we came out of it. The other 2 trucks were 20 minutes behind us, they never hit a spot of fog. I got bonus points on my scoring for that day.
