There are times that you cannot get a shower every other day due to how loads line up.
Also fuel routing can mess you up. They may have you fuel at a TA on the way with the load, but while there you do not have time to shower due to the time on the load.
Then when you get the load off you have to scramble to get to the next pickup, only to get stuck there for your 10.
Then you run the miles off that the next day, but have to stop at a rest area for the night.
On and on and on.
Most of us do our best to get them in, but sometimes it is not possible more than once every 3-4 days. At those times you should be using baby wipes and deodorant.
Put on fresh clothing anyway, not wearing the same things day after day.
Company policy is every other day.
Also, if you do not get fuel at the TS, most large ones charge 10-12 bucks for a shower.
Though many mom and pop ones only charge 7 bucks.
The trainers should be trying to get them in for showers every other day. Especially if they are nearing upgrade. Those are the best mileage days of the training time for them though.
I ran into one trainee in Irving when I was there last time.
He was dirty. Ripped up jeans, covered in dirt, and smelled like a urinal.
I physically made him go in and take a shower.
He said his trainer had not stopped for a week. Had not had much to eat in days and no showers. He was only on his second week with that trainer.
He had finally talked to training and he was dropped there to go with another one, though the guy was seriously thinking about quiting, and going home.
I got him to shower and got him some food, then he was better.
They lined him up with another trainer to try again. I don't know if he ever finished or not.
Going 2-3 days can happen sometimes. As soon as it gets past that you need to say something to the trainer. If they will not stop for you to eat and shower, then you need to say something to training. You can see how the loads are lining up, you can also see if there is time in the plan to stop somewhere. I do not expect them to stop when there is not time. But when you see it, ask.

I try to take a shower every other day at the most. Unlike ChromeDome, I do have long hair and it gets to itching and bugging me iffen I don't get it washed. When your out for several weeks, you'll usually accrue several showers to use. If I'm running daylight hrs, I'll pull into a truckstop just to take one. Only takes 45 min or so, even with this mop I've got. I can spare the time for that!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Widow, doesn't look like I'll be able to hook up. Am really getting into a time crunch with 2 drops this morning plus the driving all night. Sure am glad that its daylight and that I'm not so tired now. Wasn't able to get but a short nap on my last 10 due to them only being 4 hrs apart. The 10's that is.
Bums me out, I'd sure like to have met you and make it Jess's turn to be jealous!!! Wanna drive up to the Pilot in Catersville? lol -
WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!! According to a msg that I got from the company, as of 10/01/09, Ohio turnpikes are now accepting EZpass
-
Trust me.
I HATE skipping showers. But it is one reason I keep my hair short.
Another is that I got second degree burns on my head while I was in the Army. So the oil glands on much of my head do not work correctly anymore. So if my hair gets much over 3/4 an inch it it gets really nasty.
So I have been shaving it most of the time since 1990. I cannot do it without facial hair though. I look too much like a cueball. So I have had a goatee most of that time as well.
I am in the process of growing that out again now. My wife does not like it when it gets over 1 inch though. It is about 1.5 inches right now and white as snow lol.
You are correct sir. OH has become a member of the ez-pass world. And with a usable speedlimit on non-turnpike roads, it is not the pain in the rear place it use to be. -
I'll be there with you Iceman =)

Sorry JW and Iceman I will not be able to start until Nov. 2nd so i can have enough money saved up and two give my two week notice!!

I remember the first time out in the truck and JJ said we didn't have time for a shower
.
I'm like you Panhandle, my hair is longish and it needs washing to be tamed.

Jess another agreement here with you and Pan handle. When I was out with the husband we showered at least every other day....The only time I refused was he wanted to shower in North Dakota at night...with the wind chill at 32 below. He was a little upset with me but we had parked at the very back of the lot. I told him we would wait til the morning to shower. (not that it was a lot warmer) (but we did get the truck closer.
