i talked to a driver i work with before i went to my CDL school

he gave me a very good piece of advice which i felt put me ahead in school

before you even think about going to school, go out and get your permit yourself.....in my state its only 3 tests and they arent that hard, its all in the book

that way, you can start focusing on your pre trip and other things right away

just some advice i thought id pass along

Many of the better schools require you show up with permit in hand. I could never understand why a school would waste a students potenial drive time, with doing something that should hev been done a couple weeks before school even started.

    agreed

when i went to school the first week was all classroom, starting on monday of course, and many people didnt get there permits until thursday or friday

it took one guy until like friday of the 2nd week.......once he got in a truck, everybody realized he wasnt gonna make it.....theres a guy who posts on here, digz77, who was in the same training truck as that guy, and he use to tell me stories that made me laugh for hours but also scare me

Same thing with our classes also. They won't even let you attend orientation without a commercial driver's permit, the physical signed off and $38 for a drug test in hand.

Wonder where I could get some information on all those parts of the truck I'm gonna have to memorize for the pre-trip. That way, I could get WAAAAAY ahead of the curve. hehehehehehe
