In order to get new slack adjuster on do I just have the wife step on the brake or something?

Release the air brakes(push the yellow value in) and pull the C clip off the side, and the pin out the brake chamber clevis. Slide it off and put it back on. Put something between the wheel to keep it from running over you.

    I'm confused. Very confused.

What does caging the brake have to do with changing a slack adjuster? Chock the wheels on level ground so she don't roll, release the brakes, install the slack adjuster, turn the adjuster nut on the slack adjuster to get it lined up in the clevis, install the pins and adjust the brake.

I guess I meant that I took the other slack adjuster off and when I took the clevis pin out the rod of the brake chamber shot forward. In order to get the new one on, the rod of the brake chamber has to be back where it was ....

Ok. Chock wheels so the truck won't roll away and release the brakes. Easy peasy.
