Turns out that the turbo was bad (rare). The Cummins shop foreman had only seen 2 do this since cummins started using coolant to cool their turbos. Guess mine is #3

I had oil in the coolant. I freaked out dang i was like what happend now, cause i had it overhauld 2 years ago. Enden up being oil cooler, most likely it was the gasket on it but it’s just not worth it to replace the gasket we did all the gasket as a kit and oil coller labor and parts all together $1900 in local shop

    baha Thanks this.

Im back again... after replacing the oil cooler few weeks ago i noticed oil coming into coolant again. It’s not much but i can tell. Now i went to mechanic and he bypassed the tranny cooler cause he thinks might be that and he said that oil looks like from tranny not motor. No overheat, 7.6mpg, no smoke engine runs smooth. I have new turbo now im thinking if something is wrong with that but idk. Any opinion ?

Could be transmission cooler. Quick & dirty check: after sitting overnight (or longer), loosen off the transmission drain plug and drain a little out. Coolant would hopefully have seperated and settled to the bottom. If not the oil would look a bit milky. Have some fresh oil on hand to top the transmission off afterwards in case its low.

Since the cooling system holds pressure after the engine has been shut down, it would be reasonable to suspect coolant would make its way into the transmission as well.

When i checked the oil in the transmission few months ago and took the nut to stick the finger it was already leaking out fluid. No when i checked this morning i had to stick my finger all the way in to touch a lil bit oil and there were oil w bubbles on it. What do you think about that?

since the mechanic did the bypass today and top it off i will drive one load and i will also try to do that quick and dirty check.

You'll typically see bubbles and aeration if the truck was running in the previous couple hours. Pretty normal.

Was the oil milky? If the oil level dropped that significantly and there have been no external leaks, it is quite possible that the oil is going into the engine coolant.

Definitely have a clean pail or clean, large drain pan on hand. Sometimes those plugs can be a pain in the rear to get threaded back in if you fumble with it. It happens sometimes. That's why I say make sure you have some new oil on hand just in case.

Oil wasn’t milky it look normal to me, almost like a clean motor oil, but low. I have some leak on the rear main seal but that is different story. I will definetly take your advice and do those steps and will be back in a few says for a update. Thank you for ur time and ur will to help.
