meanwhile children in this country go to bed hungry, veterens die on the streets homeless, several thousand people will lose their jobs. But this is how our govt. decides to spend our money! It is a crime.

Is there a reason we care if there is water on the moon? Guess NASA is bored and this sounded like fun? :biggrin_25512: I can think of better things to do with the $$$

Wait I see where this is going.....moon water it'll be the New Age drink of choice.

I have always like space exploration, but his is ridiculous.. Why look for water on the moon? It is not like we do not have enough of it here, and we need it tomorrow.

they are looking for water on the moon in the attempt to set up a new place for space fuel (water = oxygen). Also finding water is the first step in colonization.

Now that I answered the why as given by NASA I say they all ought to be shot. This is a waste money that could go to better use to actually help Americans.

They'll be looking for oil on the moon next.

Thankfully that won't happen until we have discovered water on the moon. Oil is produced by the decomposition of organic lifeforms over millennia (the compound is actually carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen) so water will be needed before we can ever search for oil. Then again give them time and money to waste.....

Yeah, why bother exploring space, when that money could be better spent on road sign announcing Stimulus money at work.

LMAO Mooney, I am not saying I agree with that either, I am just saying that space exploration IMHO opinion is money vested in a venture that could be put to better use here on the ground. I know there are arguements that there have been medical advances thanks to space exploration, but those same advances could have been made in any lab on Earth. The only difference is they spent extra money doing them in zero gravity first.

Well eventually we're going to have to figure out how to get off this planet and find other places among the stars. I think they would be better served trying to figure out how to colonize Mars than the moon because at least Mars has an atmosphere.:biggrin_25523:
