Not what I meant, but shucks, if it was palletized and headed to a grocery warehouse he'd be getting a better rate or getting more consistent loads than hauling chicken feed or road salt.

I hear ya but I don't think he has any problems getting freight. His problem was the equipment repairs.

well lets see, richmaond va to alb,nm is 1835 miles so at that 379 pet getting 6.6 mile pg lets say. its about 280 gal.of fuel so thats $700 in fuel to get there ! now the lets say the dead head to utah is 700 miles from new mex,at 6.6 mpg thats another 106 gal thats another $260 in fuel. so theres 800 bucks in fuel alone not includeing food, showers and any unforsene problems, and it depends what he got for the load and where hes heading next and if theres any mountains involed with steep grades that will burn extra fuel, but would love to see the numbers on it,,,he could still make out alittle cause yet we have not deducted labor cost for both drivers, maint, tires, insuranse,so if all factored in and the load payed 4 grand there aint much left for proffit:biggrin_25525:

Now what was that awhile back about 2 rookies in a Volvo?! How's it going out there, hope you're all well and busy. It's been awhile since I read the thread and I just caught up while Rob's been driving.

To those concerned, we're watching out for each other and making the best of playing catch-up. We haven't been "SuperTruckin" but we've managed to make it from VA to NM to UT to MO so far in about 4 days and change - legal on the logs.

For the record, I've watched the Donner Pass clip many times since it hit Utube and shared that tragedy with family and friends. I made it a point to assure them that the strongest part of a truck is between the drivers ears, and knowing what the equipment can do.

Rob's got some great friends out there, and I'd like to give big thanks to everyone that helped us get the show back on the road.

Best to all, and haters beware :biggrin_255: that white Volvo getting big in the mirrors may be us.

    Yeah, what HE said!

I did try to post twice the last couple days, but there is NO signal in Utah and we were there over two days... I'd get it typed out and then get page can't be displayed...very frustrating!

Anyway I have some vids to post later of my first ice driving :biggrin_2551: , I had no idea it was going to hit so early. I must have had another ton of ice on the truck and trailer, the icicles were pointing straight out from the lugnuts about 4 inches!

Anyway it's warming up as we head east and most of the ice has fallen off or melted by now. HwyPilot just found an exhaust leak in the flexpipe under the cab right where I had one, he's looking for a quick fix if possible but we'll probably have to stick it out til Monday or find a TA.

The last couple loads have been decent enough pay including the deadheads, very justifiable. Still no shortage of freight and easy squeezy lemon peasy work.

    Check in later!

    Fratsit Thanks this.
