NAH! An 18 wheeler has to have 5 axles.Everything else is just a truck. I did see a 136 wheeler in Australia with 1500 HP, 3 500hp CATS in 3 tractors. hauling 230 tons of some piece of Nuclear powerplant up a Mountain. They were going 3 MPH too.

I was't sure how to address them like do u say "Hey 136 wheeler??" Or just "Hey, Ginormous truck with all the wheels and 3 tractors going 3 MPH?"

When is it time to retire a truck, after 1 million miles or when it just dies?

thought I throw in some canadain weights we have
    5 axle 5500kg steer 17000kg tandem 17000 tandem 39500kg total
    6 axle 5500kg steer 17000kg tandem 24000 tridem 46500kg total
    7 axle btrain 5500kg steer 17000kgtandem 17000kgtandem 17000kg tandem 56500
    8 axle 5500kg steer 17000kg tandem 24000kg tridem 17000kg tandem 63500 kg total
there are other non permit combinations as well as tridrive truck set ups
but the above cover the prefered RTAC cross canada groupings
I much prefer the good old 18 wheeler idea though
to convert kg to pounds multiply by 2.2 IE 5500kg x2.2=12100#

A tandem is just two axles it has nothing to do with number of tires. Just a thought!

The life expectancy of a truck depends on the maintenance of it. If you grease it weekly, and change the oil at 12,000 miles you can get a lot of miles above a million. If you are more interested in the stereo and the sleeper and do not do the inspections and maintenance, change the coolant and do the flushes, drain the transmission oils and the differentials. grease it, did I say grease it! I live in B.C. and know lots of trucks that get to 2 million none above 520 hp. Just a thought!

The last 3 post were about retireing a truck. all 3 beleave that motor mileage determonds truck life. My openion is what a truck doses is the major factor. Heavy haul and loging trucks the frames and bushings are going to were out a tractor befor you put a million miles on the motor. If you crack your frames to meany times it casus other`parts to fail to the point maint. cost are to high to be profitable. But what do I know I have not been doing this to long only 35 years.
