No. The "school" is to pass the test. Orientation and the 240 hours are to learn how to really drive. In orientation they tell you to forget the backing you learned. Cuz you will never use it again. They then teach you how to drive the trailer. Doing slalom's backwards around 4 cones. Plus 45 & 90 degree backing. Also night driving.

The hard part about backing? Every trailer is different. So if your doing alot of drop and hooks for the company. The next trailer you get may not back up as nicely as the last one you had. Also trailer wheel alignment is only done for the trailer rolling forward.

Yeah. They have said as much. Just did parallel. Nailed it. You get 2 pull ups and GOALs. I wouldn't have needed the pull ups but the throttle on this POS is sticky. So I had to correct it when it over shot my cut point on the landing gear.

The one thing that helped me more than anything else was repetition. See if they’ll let you practice after hours.

Yes on the driving. Little stressed on the Pre-Trip. But I will get it done.

At the time I was with them it was 6 months. Usually because they didnt manage their money and heard they would make more money as a trainer.
Sad part is. If you cant manage your money at a grand a week. No amount of money will make it easier.

dwells40, wulfman75 and Lumper Humper Thank this.
