That and not wanting to fork over about 5-7 thousand per apu, especially in this economy right now. Now say if a company only had 100 trucks and decided to put apu's on all of them they would be looking at about $500,000 if it were 5000 an apu if my math is right, now thats a whole lot of money up front and nobody is gonna fork that change out.
-
Nope. Well, the feds would. The feds should be required to, in fact. Every time they pass a dumb law, they pay for the fallout. Out of their own pockets.
-
But some companies have forked that kind of money out... and they are seeing the savings in fuel and maintenance and in a lot of cases driver retention. A lot of the big companies have put them on the truck and that is a lot of money to spend, even for the big boys. But what the APU's save in fuel, wear and tear, and the comfort they provide the driver, more than makes up for the initial expense. Idleaire is a different story, the price is prohibitive compared to the price of a gallon of diesel so there is no advantage there... although I have read that the new owners of idleaire are lowering the cost per hour to make it more competitive.

brink ur right, thats a lot of money, you hear that chatter on the cb often about the anti idile laws, and that they should make it a law for companies to have apus put on, but u hit on the head...nobody has that kinda money sitting around.
i myself pay to park, and yes my company pays u back cause they claim that you need a safe place to park at night, so they pay back.
now, the TA in willinton ct. iv never paid. they dont have the arm on the way in, and even after spending the night, i just say to the guy on the way out that i just ran in here and got a cup of coffee, and didt get a ticket, i have the coffee and the paper to prove it! i dont say fuel, cause i dont always have a fuel slip on my way out.
the pay lots, i tend to see more o/ops there then company drivers, i guess the o.o are the only ones that no its a tax write off, im a company driver and its still a tax write off for me. its nicer in the lots with more o.os then company drivers, the driver are nicer, and sociable, and no! im not talking about that scuz buck they call a ttruck stop in jessup md! or baltimore either... im talking about those small pay lots near the bigger t/s..

I'd wager that you work in Otay Mesa. That pay-to-park truckstop in Otay Mesa is a mudhole. Even if they had free parking, I wouldn park there, I would go to the Pilot. A

Anyone know of any places near Queen Creeek Arizona that i can park a truck and trailer?
-
There is an un-developing Mall development that would have been good, except that its fenced off now., While out there, saw a few rigs pulled off the side of the road and they sat there for the week we were there..
-
yeah they use to park trucks on the side of a dead end road by my house but then they put big no parking signs everywhere, use to be easier to get a spot...not anymore. -
Park at Loves, I-10, exit 162 or the casino near there. But, don't be obvious about it ( like having Mama pull up in her car while you unload your junk)
