You learn where these places are after awhile, we had a few in Iowa until the state shut down locals out of town, that may have changed.

The absolute worst thing is the following too closely in my opinion. How are you to control some idiot pulling back in too soon? Said idiot may be speeding and is now using the big truck to mask that dirty deed.

True if a truck pulls back in front you too soon, that should not be your problem, and the LAW officer should understand that or should not be a LAW officer! If they do not understand Trucks then I say they should not deal with them!!

This is a scary time indeed, considering following too close is one of the MAJOR CDL violations, and they can tag you for it even if its not YOUR fault. AKA you are following at a safe distance and a four wheeler cuts in front of YOU. Whose worth more? The CDL 'Following too close' or the 4wheeler unsafe driving?

I have to say I've noticed far more sudden road side inspections, my hubby had a cop pull him over because 'his mud flap was too short' or so the DOT thought, turns out it wasn't but that didn't stop the road side inspection from happening, and when the ### couldn't find anything wrong with the truck he was given a ticket for not changing the address on his license in a quick enough time.

Thats how desperate the cops are. If you get pulled over they are GOING TO FIND SOMETHING to give you a ticket for.

My best suggestion... invest in a dash cam and install it. Its not crazy high and it WILL GET YOU out of some of these retarded tickets.

Having worked for local and county governments for years, I know that they are always looking at methods to increase the revenue. This is not to say that officers are told to write more tickets specifically to truckers but there are enforcement strategies that are used to "lower speeds, decrease traffic collisions and increase safety on the roadways."

A "dash-cam" is worthless, unless you also plan on spending several hundred dollars hiring a lawyer and schedule your vacations around attending traffic-court several hundred miles from home.
