    Hey Everyone,

I have never had any points, reckless driving, or carless driving on my MVR. However, I do have three tickets on my record that I just realized last week after I got my MVR from TMC after trying to get pre-hired. I was denied. 2/3 the tickets where given to me in 2019 and the other in 2017. They where all for speeding but here is where it gets interesting. I never got nailed with the speeding. I hired an attorney and he managed, every time, to get them ruled over to something else "I think he knew the judge" based on how everything panned out. I only paid serious fines but NO POINTS, RECKLESS, OR CARLESS EVER. It was beneficial at the time.

Fast forward to 2020 and I want to get my CDL but noticed on my MVR, I have three tickets that are going to seem awful to the rest of the employers. 2019 Tickets. 1) Abandon Vehicle on private property. 2) Speeding across a sidewalk "Completely different from driving on a sidewalk" .. 2017-3) Unsafe operation of A. I NEVER GOT POINTS, RECKLESS, OR CARLESS for any of the tickets. Do you think the 3 tickets I have will affect me in getting employed by reputable employers? TMC never told me why they didn't hire me but I figure it has to be the tickets that came up. They sound ridiculous. At the time I was hyped because of my results but now I'm wishing it would have panned out different. Im from NJ ALSO. No expungement on traffic violations. Thank You!

Well it matters what you were convicted of. I.e. what did you plea guilty to? And yes it matters. The one in 2017 should fall off at worst in a couple months. Most carrier's go back 3 years, and there isn't much left of this year.

These carriers are not stupid. They look at your record and determine the level of risk they are willing to accept to hire you. You have two tickets that were pled down, and are still moving violations and a third ticket that was pled down to a non moving violation in a 12 month span. So to answer your question...yes this will affect your ability to get hired by a reputable carrier while the convictions remain on your record.

I don’t know if I’d go as far to say Tmc is reputable, there just another mega carrier, and a majority of the bean counters are stupid, They just want minimal risk, my driving record in my personal vehicle was pretty horrible throughout my 20s (never had anything in the truck) but I never went to any of the megas, can always try something ####tier like food service or dump trucks for a few years Until the points come off

Something to remember is that Jersey does not print off a 3yr mvr, it’s 5yr or lifetime.

So even if they only go back 3 years, they will see all violations in the last 5.

not thing stops them from seeing this and saying NO. Kind of like with paper logs, you are required to carry your past 7 with you, hand the officer this month’s book & he can right a ticket from three in a half weeks ago.

Also the unsafe op. Is going to hurt you. That will need to be explained to the company, when you find a company willing to hear the explanation.

It's not based on whether the company will hire you, It's based on whether the insurance company will accept the risk.

Precisely. My insurance was very clear that I couldn't hire new drivers with any moving violations in the last three years; including my own son. That was very handy in keeping him on the straight and narrow while he was a teenager. He passed his CDL driver's test on his 21st birthday and hit the road the next day.
