Best states for me: Wyoming, Colorado (in the Winter) and northern Minnesota.
Actually all of MN I enjoy. Iowa too. -
Florida if you come from Alabama on I10 is flat. Also Mississippi and Alabama no mountains.
Op don't restrict your travel to mountains. Drive them during the summer months to get experience for a couple years. Some good paying loads go over mountains. Mountain passes aren't that bad.
Understandably you will be nervous. I learned going down slow, slow, slow. Each time I drove the same pass I learned a little and gained confidence. Stay in the ride lane and take your time.
