The first unit would crash when plugged into the comp repeatedly but eventually say 'connected'...but was not. I've not tried this one. I'd assume the same as it's the same version but lemme give it a try...brb
EDIT: ok this one says 'Connected' but nothing shows up on the desktop -- I'm assuming it should interface via USB-Mass Storage? Then it restarts after about a min and stays on the opening splash screen until I unplug it from the computer. So looks like a no-go on USB transfer :\

E-mail should arrive shortly...
The Mac works perfectly and no issues with any other USB devices. Hopefully the newer software will fix this so that when RM releases the Mac Dock it'll actually work lol
In Morris? Yeah that would be great! Probably roll though there around early to mid-morning...need my # to coordinate?Last edited: Oct 15, 2009

Just wonder which Mac you have an Intel based or Power PC based, if your Mac is Intel based you can load Microsoft OS in it. I understand, I also can't stand windows but it does stop me from using some PC programs I find a use for.

This has been a very interesting and informative thread. Thanks cc1942117 for all your imput and desire to put a real tool into the hands of the professional truck driver. I'm watching closely to see how this product developes and will plan on getting a unit in the spring if and when I join those ranks. Please don't let the "Nay-Sayers" negative comments get to you. I don't think they understand your desire to help this product be a real success. Thanks again for your help and availability.
texasrebel, Mark Kling and Dave 1960 Thank this. -
I have to give a great big THANK YOU to Dieselboss (Don Sr and Jr) for getting me the Rand GPS. I was in a tight spot and they got one to me in less than 24 hours! And it came with a free inverter!
I've been reading this thread from the begining and now that the bf's finally in a truck on his own we wanted to give this a try.
We are familiar with GPS's, having gone through a few car ones, and if any major difficulties arise I will be sure to post the issue here for resolution!
Thanks again Dieselboss!
Dieselboss and Mark Kling Thank this. -
You're heading to Portland now? I am an hour south of there. Any chance you will going south on the I-5 after Portland? If so, I can update the unit to the newest rev on your way by.

Mark,
If these Mac users have and SD card reader slot or plug into it using the USB cord, isn't there a way that can manually download the latest software to it that way?tranquilo Thanks this. -
We got this user taken care of as about ten minutes ago. For some reason and I am not too up on Mac's, his laptop will not see the TND unit. It shows connected, but cannot read the external drive.
I would have been able to send him the files via E-mail, if his TND would have been seen by his Mac Laptop.
This would even be the same for SD cards..
SO, RM is looking in this issue and doing some internal stuff to correct this. -
I've PPC so no go on installing Windows...would make things a lot easier. And stop giving me more reasons to spend more money! lol

Now there's a question. I've a card reader floating around somewhere in here...
Mark: does the TND have an internal drive or is everything stored on the SD card? This may alleviate a lot of the headaches we're trying to work around until some progress is made on the Mac client.
Thanks Dieselboss for the offer...definitely appreciated!
We got everything sorted out this morning (yeah, that fast!) and let me tell ya I've a story to tell all of you. Stay tuned...Last edited by a moderator: Oct 16, 2009
