W900 vs aero for fuel milage
The front grill size of the hood on a W9 is virtualy the same on my T8, except its 8-10 inches taller, but same width. I have a 500 Cat, and pulling my reefer I get about 6 mpg overall, but I dont have the aero shield bird banger ontop of my sleeper. I'd think that a W900 WITH a bird banger pulling a van/reefer, would get better milage than me or at least as good.

I LOVE my W900L...I average 5.5 to 6.5 MPG depending on how heavy my right foot gets. My tractor weighs 19,000 with full tanks (300 gal.),all of my stuff, 15 chains and 15 binders,Tarps, 20 straps and a full set of snow chains.
Side by side with a Junkliner Columbia that pulls for us that is equipped the same way my W9 is only 500 pounds heavier while being an infinetly better truck in all ways.
I would stop driving if all I could get was a stinkin' Volvo. -

You could order the same truck with a sleeper, add a fuel tank and would still weigh less than 14k. And you wouldn't have any trouble finding a driver or selling it when the time came. And another benefit that most Freightliner (classic excluded) or Volvo drivers would be shocked to see is the back half of their engine. Yes Volvo owners, your truck engine is a 6cyl I know you can only see the first 3 without tearing apart half you truck but their are 3 more there.Tank33 said: ↑You will have a much easier time hiring IMO if you have a W900L, than a T600. Also, when resale time comes, you can ALWAYS sell a 379 Pete, or a W900 Kenworth, no matter the miles, they seem to always sell.
Not true . Case in point, my last job or current employer prefers light trucks. If i had a 900 i wouldnt have been the first hired this spring.
When you can deliver 2-3000 lbs more product on each and every load my pocket book smiles the customer smiles and my boss smiles.
And face it a lot of jobs pay by weight rather than by mile.Click to expand...

The truck I drive right now is a W900L, ISX, 13 speed, 120 gallon tanks, 72'' aerocab, not the studio sleeper, 12/40 axles, and with my Microwave, TV, inverter, all my stuff in it, it weighs 21,000. It has no deck equipment either as I pull reefers/vans right now. -
Good question....I expected it to weigh more when I bought it but it's pretty light.
