GPS Causing Truckers to Crash Into Bridges

Yea in Chicago there is warehouse called newlyweds or something like that, by the entrance is a railroad tressell , you can go under it empty but you cant go under it loaded, when your loaded your airbags raise your truck and trailer up exeeding the height for the tressel, thats one example, but i wouldnt have known that except a friend told me about it before i got there, the only sign there says the height.

 

It's not the GPS...It's the idiot holding the steering wheel!

I wouldn't ever want a GPS, I read a map and look out the windshield to figure out if the bridge is too low.

 

maybe if New York got with the rest of the country and posted the correct hieghts there would be less problems them posting them a foot lower incase of snow build up is crazy no were else in the country do they do it. how many times have you come up on a bridge that says 12' 9" in Ny when the true hieght was 13" 9". It seems they have two diferent standards for marking bridge heights.

When My flat's loaded (48K)....it drops about 3"........

Look at a loaded trailer versus an empty trailer.....your air bags are compressed when loaded.......

Truckers still hit bridges.....problem is not fixed.


Remeasure bridges, dig out ground under bridges to raise height, add new signs for other low bridges. Truckers no longer hit bridges!

Laws will not stop the bridges from being hit.

 

If your air ride leveling valves are working correctly, your ride height should be the same loaded or empty!

The bridges that NY is talking about are on the Parkways, which trucks are not supposed to be on, period. Perhaps they should also be fining the companies also for hiring idiots that can't read a map or road signs.

 

You mean the parkways in NYC? NY is not NYC. There's low bridges all over that state.
