What if I am at a rest area. To find out what town I am near, according to those instructions, I have to enter a town that I am near.

you can enter any town...but you should be able to remember a town you passed eariler or ahead of you. no sense having it route accross country.. just enter a town, any town, anywhere.... route to it.. then go back to city center.. the town/state you are in will show up... in reality... only takes about 2-3 minutes... so while you are starting/ending your logbook and filling in the information, you can find where you are at on the fly.
-
And the competitor takes 3 seconds. Why waste 3 minutes of my time on purpose?
-
no matter what I say you are not happy.. this is just one hidden feature... every navigation unit has good points and bad points. this issue is not to your high specs. sorry..
lets move on -
Yeah, don't forward it to RM or anything.
-
seems you had a bad day. I cannot discuss anything in new features. NDA.
Have a good Sunday..
I am trying to be helpfull here, really do not see the navigation company that you have a unit of on this forum helping out the drivers..
To all other Drivers, I will be posting hopefully daily other things that will bring new things to light that are on this production version.
I am headed to ATL for a test run.
Have a nice Sunday all..

And why is the overly complicated "feature" to find out where you are "hidden?" That doesn't even make any sense.
-
am I going to have to go through this with everything I try to let users know about?
let us move on. you are not happy, you do not have a TND 500,, your navigation company is not on line to help their users..
no more kajidono.
I explained that I cannot talk about future features. It has been explained that you cannot build a Cray computer in a day. Certain features were on the priority list to make the first production run. If you are not happy with what did make the production version, then simply start your own navigation company and build a unit that will meet everyone's needs the first time you put it on the market.
I am going to bed now kajidono... I have an early start.
Have a better day tomorrow..

Oh nice. You claim that RM cares about what drivers think then insult whoever points out a feature that sucks. And yes, this feature sucks. All I did was point that out and all you can do is attack me and say something about future features that I did not mention or ask about.
Well, I was going to get one, but since you're entire response is a big "go #### yourself" I'm not wasting my money on it. Not that you or RM give a ####. -
I pointed something out, you replyed each time with a different twist of words. In a sit down mode this production version does not have the where am I mode that other units have. what is in the future for upgrades I cannot say. NDA. so, I cannot say anything about the future.
Since I know this does not have this "one button" feature, I am showing other users how they can get the city/state they are in, in case they need to know in a sit down mode. It takes a few buttons to push, but it can be done in a timely manner. Nothing that will kill your entire day.
because your unit has it, that is nice. But I cannot make an apple into an orange. You also must understand that one navigation company cannot copy other navigation companies ideas. they are most likely patented. SO unless royalities are paid, they have to find another work around without infridgement upon the patent.
I cannot wave a magic wand and make a mini-cray computer to encompass every detail every driver wants.
So do not take any offense at anything I wrote. I thought I answered your question at least 3 times, but you kept rewording your posts.
I do not understand how clearer I could make my thoughts come accross for you to understand.
Does this unit have- no, a workaround - yes, several different ways. will this be a future feature - I cannot say, NDA.
Have a nice day.
