There are alot of times that a truck driver has probably almost killed himself to save your butt, that you dont even know about. This just evens things up one notch.

Several times a week I have to take evasive actions to prevent from turning a 2 or 4 wheeler into road kill. SO get over it. You probably ride a Honda anyway. If it aint american it dont belong on our roads.

If your DH knows anything about riding especially 2 up, He would know not to pass anyone till he has made eye contact via there mirror before passing. This is one of the first rules to stay alive by while riding. Also the driver may have never seen you coming. Oh yeah lets not count all the cars and bikes using the truck only lanes for passing.

Yes Rockee there is closer blind spots on the left of the truck, especially for a motorcycle to hide in.

Yeah, when HD makes a bike that will start every day for a week straight we'll discuss that further.

I hear it all the time when running the gorges out in the left lane.
Mind ya business and I'll be about mine.

Why does that simple task evade so many ?

I don't think you can take a truck threw there. I won't do it anyway. Last time I was there I went back down to Cleveland then up 75 to get to Knoxville from Robinsville.

That is a no trucks left lane because some politician probably got cut off or slowed down by a Swift passing a JB truck one day. For those of us who are responsible and respect other motorist right to the road there is no need for such restrictions. The last time I was through there it took 20 minutes to go 5 miles because the trucks were lined up in the right lane following a 15 mph motorhome for miles. It took another 20 minutes for the jam to clear once we were past the restriction and all the trucks were trying to get around and back up to speed. If that wasn't restricted, only the one idiot that wanted to do 80 that got caught behind a truck doing 60 to pass a 15 mph motorhome would be mad. Instead all the trucks got held up and all the 4 and 2 wheelers get slowed down to the 45 mph car that is passing all the trucks. Just another example of what happens when politicians get involved.

I'll put it bluntly. A lot of Drivers these days are NOT paying attention to what they are doing anymore! And I'm talking about truckers! This is something that pis**s me off to no end!

You are supposed to be in control of your environment. When you are doing 65 or whatever, and are coming up on another vehicle why is it you wait till the last second then realize that OH My, that's a ________ (put slow company name here) and throw on that blinker and pull over? WHY? Do you actually believe that BULL #### "three blinks and I'm coming over" BULL? You must because I hear it every day on the CB and see it too! I've been coming up in the left lane, see some MORON driver coming up on a slower truck and will flash MY lights KNOWING he's overtaking that truck but Dumb ARSE is talking on the cell or off in LALA land and doesn't think about driving and oops yep wait till I give up waiting for him to make up his mind, start to pass and YOYO will do the throw on the blinker and pull the heck right on over, slowing ME and maybe another driver down because he had his head up his ARSE and didn't want to slow down! Now we have 2,3 or more trucks going below the speed limit going up a hill! Just so MORON did'nt have to slow down!

As to whoever said something about the blinking lights on a bike. If you had been looking in those mirrors more than once a day you might have seen him a mile behind you coming up on you! That's what they were made for, to be SEEN so you DON'T run over him! Most bikers will diffidently let you know to come over with a hand signal as I do! I've seen the bottom of a trailer and don't want to see one while riding my bike! A lot of bikes made these days have instant on headlights just like trucks so turning them off isn't an option.

And the Gorge. Only an idiot will drive in the left lane! How much time out of your day are you going to loose by staying right? A few minutes and if you had done a proper routing schedule you knew you were going to drive it and I just KNOW you added an extra 5 minutes to your schedule! The next time you drive through there look at all the gouges and spots where some SUPER TRUCKER screwed the pooch and left their mark on the road! Then while he's on his side we're screwed and have to find another route around which is MILES out of route just because "you were in a hurry!" And believe it or not the cops do work that section and the fines are way more than what a few minutes out of your day is worth!

Yes, I was brutal in this post, but these days it's almost a war zone because of a lot of what TRUCKERS do and I'm NOT talking about car drivers as they are as bad as the bad truckers we have in our ranks! We have as many bad apples in our barrel as the 4 wheelers! I also have the 30+ years of whiskers to chew out those of you who have done exactly what I've put in this post! Been there seen it all! Even to where the "gotta pee on the side of the interstate drivers" who jump back in the cab, hit the blinker and pull right out in front of the truck doing road speed and can't get over! Brilliant!

Good Luck but don't screw up in front of me cause you will NOT win that arguement!

I am just going to make a short comment here so don't think I am taking anything out of context. If I see a faster truck coming up on me I will stay in the granny lane until you pass me. The reason for this is I know how slow my truck is, I have even got on the cb before telling drivers to go ahead and pass instead of slowing up to help me. I appreciate the gesture, but trust me I'm not losing much time in my slow rig usually.

And I do the same! I don't like to slow anyone down and even on a hill if I can't get by the truck I "thought" I could pass I'll slow down and get back in line! 15 minutes of each day I allot to such things as hills and known construction zones and 99% of the time I hit my mark! Why slow down another because of your mistakes and inattentiveness?

I usually have my time allotted unless there is a road closure but I usually even have that info because unlike a large majority of drivers these days the CB is a necessary tool and when I hear about something I'll be ready for the exit I need to by pass the stopped traffic! Don't like the trash talk? Then learn that the squelch and RF gain buttons do! No they don't help transmitting but lower all of the back ground noise and drivers out there a ways! They are also good for ranging in on some CB Rambo to see who he is!

I'm the one who stated that. Maybe you should learn to comprehend what your reading. I don't recall saying I've ran bikes over or off the road. I just stated how stupid those blinking lights are! And that fact of how drivers (car, truck and bikes) are lazy and just assume they are being signaled over.

Oh and the last statement you made...you may want to rethink that! It sounds kinda Billbob-bigrigger-ish to me...:yes2557:
