I work for the same company in missouri and its the same here. We hire three guys at a time and only 1 might work out. Just puts more work on us but whatever at least they pay per hour and overtime.
How many of your companies are struggling to find drivers?

If the closest food service company wasn’t an hour commute I would of been on that already. My road driving job is located less than 6 miles from my house. That 10 min commute is priceless IMO.
If your company advertised the home daily, no weekends, no nights. They may have a better chance of getting more applicants. I personally wouldn’t apply for a driving job that advertised pay. More often than not there’s a bunch of loop holes to jump thru to get that advertised salary. I know food service is different than OTR company’s that advertise wages on the back of the trailer. -
Same problem at FedEx Freight. They use the same exact template for drivers, dock workers, clerical, even management. No mention of pay, home time, benefits, shift, weekly hours. Doesn’t help that when applicants do find out about the pay, it’s too low and the progression is too long.
Mike2633, highspeed1972, Gearjammin' Penguin and 4 others Thank this. -
There wont be a driver shortage much longer after they legalize 15 million people and they will be flooding truck schools. This means less money for you.
born&raisedintheusa, nredfor88, Mike2633 and 8 others Thank this. -
We snagged 3 drivers from other companies, each with over 30 years experience recently. Guys like these don't want 70 hours a week/weekends and thats what drives potential employees away...

I was looking at getting my CDL and finding a job in GR doing good service, do they hire without experience?
I ended up taking my old office job working at a local asset based brokerage. Pays not bad but no where close to the food service guys. -
MACK E-6, Brrrrr LTL Guy and Cardfan89 Thank this.
