The east coast pays better then west coast.

Cost of living is cheaper also.

I know Crete and National Carriers are starting experienced drivers out in the low 50's. U might be doing some reefer work. Got some friends over there that are doing well and like it..Good Luck!

If some of those van jobs are so good, why are they always looking for drivers? The recruiters paint a pretty picture but the reality is usually something not quite so sweet.
If you have a good tanker job you might be sorry if you left it for van work.

you have to weight one against the other in work available, and sitting times.

not all van work, is consistent. you sit for hours on end, or a day or two, maybe three.

how busy was the tanker work? every day?

that's not how it is all the time with van work.

too many other variables, but i think you'll get the picture from a few others later.

Yeah, I roll every day at my current job. My lowest paycheck ever over here was $2000 take home for a two week pay period, but lately I've been taking home $3000 every two weeks. I know that won't last though, so maybe we can say it averages to $2500/biweekly take home. They pay 100% of my health insurance too, so that's gotta be worth taking into consideration. Idk how much that works out to per year though.
I'm starting to get the feeling that I'm not going to find that in van work. Like I said, I have no experience hauling freight except for those two months. :(

The grass looks greener on the other side of the fence till you climb over and find its built over the septic tank?

Lots on companies say stuff like. Our top drivers make 70k or Up To 80k your first year. Another good one is our Average driver makes 70k. It sounds great but they did not say anything bout actual pay. If you don't make the average pay then it must be because your not average.

Another one is let's say a company has 3,000 trucks and they paid out$210,000,000 in payroll. That's $70,000 per drivers. The truth is that actually had 6,000 drivers for the year because drivers quite they don't pay great. Now the average driver pay is only $35,000. So the just leave out the fact they used 6,000 drives to keep their truck going. They just look at end of year numbers. We have 3,000 trucks and payroll for the year was $210,000,000. So the average driver must be making $70,000.

I saw one yesterday. It was parked and I was driving so didn't catch the whole thing.

Back of trailer. $2500 week after expenses.
