You guys in here always do a good job of behaving yourselves, aside from your occasional trouble making visitor.ExtremeUnction, Lonesome, JohnBoy and 2 others Thank this. -
Live loaded at Bissell last night and they really rammed those vacuum cleaners in the trailer. It is a wonder none of them broke, lol! Some fork drivers are rough.
MidWest_MacDaddy, Lonesome and MACK E-6 Thank this. -
Forklifts pushing trains of 1000+ lb pallets down the dock 5 or 6 at a time regardless of whether or not any of them are wearing "flammable liquid" or "spontaneously combustible" labels is not an uncommon occurrence.
And let's not forget the damage claims from pallets rammed together so hard they're impossible to get apart for some poor driver armed with only a pallet jack.dwells40, jarhead0311 and MidWest_MacDaddy Thank this. -

I have been sent once again to the pasta place in Columbia, SC. The one that took 24 hours to get me loaded and out the door.
I thought about refusing a load for the first time in my career when I got it, but I said "Nah" and soldiered gamely forward.
Load assignment said my pick-up window was between noon and 7pm. I had started my driving day at 4:30 this morning for a Walmart live unload, so I was able to get to the shipper by 11:00am. They informed me that, contrary to what my load assignment said, I actually had a specific appointment time: 7:00pm
However, they seem to have gotten their feces accumulated to some degree since my last visit. Place was much less of a chaotic mess than it had been when I was here before. They actually let me drop my trailer in a door and bobtail to the Petro that's 8 minutes away.
When I came back, there was a tractor-trailer halfway out into the main road leading to this shipper. It looked like they were trying to take a left turn out onto the main road when their truck died halfway through the turn. They were completely blocking one lane of traffic as well as the center lane.
I slowed down as I got close so I could turn in, and they waved me down.
"Can you back up and get in the center lane?"
Couldn't figure out why they wanted me to do that. Maybe clear traffic for 'em? But sure, I'm a pal, I'll help.
Just as I started to put it into gear, I saw one of the drivers start attaching a tow strap to the front of his truck.
"Hang on," I said. "Do you guys want me to tow you back into the center lane?"
"Yes."
I declined. This ain't my truck, and I ain't gonna run the risk of tearing it up. I can just see me trying to explain that to Don down in safety. "Yeah, I tore off important bits of my truck while trying to tow some other dude's truck out into the street." That just seemed like it was a bad idea all around. So I wished 'em the best of luck and continued on my merry way.Lonesome, MidWest_MacDaddy, dwells40 and 6 others Thank this.
