1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I am involved with a veterans program, that works at getting veterans back on their feet. I am trying to find out information from any company that might be willing to work with these veterans, some of which have CDL's some would reqquire training for employment. While some of these veterans do have some questionable background information, they have all been working very hard to improve their quality of life, as well as clear their past issues. Through this programs for company saftey as well these veterans are federally bondable and can offer tax breaks to companies that are willing to hire.

Please if anyone has any information this is something we are looking into, and asking the industry to take a chance with veterans, they served for us, lets give them a chance here as well.

    Please respond

A few big companies out here have veteran programs. Two of them that come to mind are Schneider and ATS. Might take a day or two, other members will chime in with their knowledge of this subject.

If you work with the VA should know about the VA funded apprentice programs that would benefit vets needing training. The VA website lists companies that have such programs since they have to be approved by the VA to be able to use GI Bill benefits for training. Many of the larger trucking companies have these programs and most advertise them on their website.

Problem we run into is these are veterans who have less than perfect backgrounds. Most that are looking into driving are bondable, but they do have some issues they are trying to work through. Criminal as well as motor vehicle, please if you know of companies or even names at companies let me know.
