Hello all, long time lurker and first time poster here.

I've had my CDL for a couple years now, working locally here in the Toledo, OH area with an LTL outfit. I'm looking to branch out a bit and do more of an OTR/Regional type job. I'm just getting tired of working the dock for the better part of my 70 hours in 5 days work week. I've put in a good amount of hours researching, but so far haven't found any OTR companies that matched what I was looking for in terms of home time and pay. Mega Carrier, Small Family Owned, or anything in between. I don't really mind. I can adapt to any sort of situation.

I'm looking for somewhere I can be out 5-7 days and then home 2 full days before going back out. And I'm looking for at least $1100/1200 minimum take home after taxes and family insurance. The rest of the details on a company I can be flexible with, but those two things are what I'm really looking for. Does this type of OTR job exist? Of course recruiters for every company under the sun can promise this to me, but I'm looking for real verifiable information from my fellow drivers as to whether this is something I can find. I have done a few hours of research so far and I will keep looking, but thought I'd make a post asking the experts as well. Thanks everyone for the advice!

Check out Cox Transfer out of Eureka Ill. I drove a daycab For them in Wisconsin when I lived there. Great company, no complaints at all from me. I probably would have stayed there till retirement if I hadn’t moved out of their operating area.

Their otr drivers are out Mon-Fri and only run midwest. Pay is average $1200 per week. I believe they have a minimum pay of around $1000 and I believe a salary is also an option. Hopefully that is higher now lol. Home all day saturday and all day sunday. I can’t say for sure if they hire out of Toledo but they sure ran a lot of Ohio when I was there.

*** I left the company in 2018 so I apologize if any of this info has changed since I left.

I would say you can find a company like that around your area. Just let them know what you want. It was funny one time I told a recruiter I wanted dedicated flatbed Pa to Ct that is. Is it available, he said yes. Call me back says you will be running Pa to Ohio, Ohio to Kentucky to Pa dedicated. (Whato_O:rolleyes::eek::confused:). I said Pa to Ct. He said, oh I don't have that. Just make it very clear what you want. It's not hard to find it's just not accepting anything if you have options. All the best to you on your journey

Thank you Chinatown. I checked in with these guys and like what I’m hearing so far. Also looking into Ormsby Trucking out of Uniondale, IN. $1200-1500/wk on a 5/2 schedule and says they cover all health insurance premiums.
