A little history about myself. I was an owner operator for 8 years before I took 5 years off. To make sure I still enjoy trucking I joined on as a company driver. I have good credit so I'm going to go out and purchase my own truck again. I need good home time because I have a child now.
I have read that there are places out there that will let you run the load boards under their authority and insurance for a percentage? But I seem to be unable to find them. I was going to sign on with landstar and bring my own trailer but I don't have enough time on the road in the last 3 years for them having only 7 months. I would just wait another 5 months but my custody is about over and I'm going to have my child for 5 days every other 10 days. I'm looking at USA Truck right now and the rates don't seem to be that bad on their load board even taking into account the 67% many of their loads are paying $2 a mile after they take their percentage.
so where can I find these places that take 15% and allow you to operate on their authority and insurance?
What's the best company right now to lease onto as a new owner operator?
