I got a bill from the California Dept of Taxation today for $767. When I bought my new truck and trailer in 2018, I had to pay CA use tax of around $6,500, and paid it immediately. I guess after I paid it, there was a $60 residual amount for something they can't quite figure out for what, and the penalties and interest since then came up to $767. I logged into my account and there have been no notices, and my account was closed in December 2018 showing paid in full. I can only imagine what all other taxes are going to look like here over the next couple years from shutting down the state.
I tell you, living in California just gets better and better.Scooter Jones, TallJoe, Midwest Trucker and 2 others Thank this. -

I can only expect things becoming unbearable here in Cook County. Not only they were running on deep debts before but now with self inflicted shut downs, I cannot imagine that there is an arythmetical solution to this.

The rates dropped here for Monday too. Significantly.
I wish it were snowing heavily, this way staying home anywhere would be more justified.
I was able to secure $3100 (a few days back $3500 - $3800) from Rochelle, IL to Greencastle, PA 750 miles but the back hauls are no different from the usual days: $900 - 1000 is a taker. I think I'll have to supplement this revenue by making an additional short water haul.Dale thompson and Scooter Jones Thank this. -
This is where I'm at for the Month through Monday morning's delivery down the road from my yard.

As I indicated earlier, I've leaned into it a little harder this past several weeks than I usually do.Last edited: Dec 12, 2020

I had those two new trucks come in and like clock work I lose a driver. It always happens like that. So, I added two trucks, sold one truck, and lost a driver. I already needed 1 driver, so just like that I need 3 drivers.
Won’t go into too much detail but he abandoned the truck over covid. Even though I had a rapid test setup to take so he knew for sure or not. Crazy times out here. If he thinks he will get paid for riding the covid couch, it’s not gonna happen. He quit the second he abandoned the truck WITH a load on I might add.
What is it with people? No self accountability at all.77fib77, rollin coal, Ruthless and 3 others Thank this.
