Bumper? Easy. Get an old piece of frame rail. Measure, drill, trim, paint, and install. If you start at daylight you should be finished by lunch.
You can HIT things with a bumper like that.

Best I can get in the dark. Nothing fancy. Just looped chain around the tie down and hook back to itself. Then a boomer from a chain pull to the chain, below the hook. Allows for full or half link adjustments. On the rear points I put a ratchet straight from the tie down to the rail, my rails are solid piece construction which allows for direct securement.

The shipper has someone sign off on securement before they will release the load. The wtf look when I told him I'd lock it down with 2 chains and 6 binders was pretty good. Of course the guy didn't know about chain pulls either, so I had to explain that as well.

Broker info is stellar. It'll be 6 ft tall, 8 ft long and 8,000 lbs. It turned out to be 7 ft tall and 8,000 lbs. 20201218_121811.jpg

Call him out. I just had one at "40k". Turned out to be a scale out load. Broker was just as mad, and said the info he got was "19 to 21 tons", and he would call the shipper. Lady came out and told me she's not used to a combo being so light, and that's why I ended up with more freight. I said: "So what you're saying, is I need to make my truck heavier, so you don't take advantage of me."

    She didn't laugh....

Got back on the horn with the broker, and let him know what was up, and I didn't blame him a bit. He offered me an extra fifty bucks for the trouble. My truck goes to 80K, and gets billed for 80K. The weight wasn't the problem. But I don't like being lied to. I told the broker it was BS, and it's "You and I against the shipper, buddy". People think the broker is the problem, but I'll bet you most of the time it's the shipper trying to back him against a wall with low rates and lies.
