Oakley transport

I'm still alive and still very happy.

 

Quick update while I have time. So I've been here for about 4 or 5 months. After 3 months you get a monthly bonus based on your driving performance. I've heard guys say it's hard to get but I've gotten it twice in a row already. Both times have been over 500 bucks. So if you drive safe you can count on around 500 extra dollars every month. Plus there is a quarter bonus I haven't gotten yet bc i havnt been here a complete quarter yet. Sweeeettttt

 

That's good to hear. How's the truck treating you? Do they keep you busy?

 

Truck has been holding up great. Minor issues with the APU such as loose wire for thermostat that I fixed myself. Other than that, no issues.

I'm not to busy at all but I get paid salary so I like it that way. Getting home on the 21st for Christmas so thats good. Well see how my dispatcher handles me wanting all my days off instead of trying to get me back on the road early like last time.

 

Sounds good man, it seems like dedicated is the way to go with Oakley. We share a drop yard with Oakley in upstate NY and it always seems like it's the same guys sitting idle there. I've thought of asking one of them what kind of miles they are running, but I hesitate as it may not be what they want to hear if things are slow. I know I wouldn't want anyone asking me that if I had no work.

 

Champlain? I think those guys are on salary as well.

 

Yup, maybe I will chat to a couple of them and see how things are going. I just worked out my 6 month gross and I'm at 39k which works out to an average of $1500 per month. I'm sure I could do better elsewhere but for now I'm staying put.

 

I've only ever seen a handful of box trailers. And I think they were dry van but not 100%.

Also I requested an extra day off, your only supposed to take max of 6 but I asked for a 7th, and my dispatcher gave it to me. Only downside was he didn't tell me tell the day 6 so I didn't plan on having it off.... but still got 7 days off none the less.

As a honest recap, I can truly say this gig has been great! Compared to flatbed and fuel hauling... I like this job way more. Only downside i would say is hometime compared to time spent on the road but it is what it is. A week off after every month and half isn't so bad either I guess... any question feel free to let me know.
