Well....
I have only been there a week and a half. So really cannot say for sure how it will turn out.
I have been moving though. No waiting no stopping.
They are 80% drop and hook, so you don't wait allot.
Out of 9 loads I have had so far I had 4 live ones, and only on one end. 2 were paper rolls. Took 5-10 min to unload. Other was a load of windows and doors with 2 stops. Both of those took a while to unload but were not bad.
Only one really slow one and it is a new acct. They are working on them to get the trailers preloaded, I mean that as in charging allot for sitting trucks and making sure they have plenty of empties so no excuse lol.
I was out from noon a week ago Wednesday to Friday afternoon. In that time I got 3800 or so paid miles. Not too bad since I had to hit the terminal for maintenance 2 times. Once for qualcom not working and once for B service and fuel guage.
2200-2400 miles a week and home weekends should be very easy to do with there freight and planning. I will see how it goes. They try and dispatch at 500 miles a day.
I have had presets for the next load before I have delivered any loads so far.
My only issue this last week that slowed me down a little was that I ran out of hours on my 70.
If I am home at least for a reset most weekends this will not be a problem. I will run every mile I can on every load as quickly as possible and get the early drops in. My dispatcher said it will not be an issue to take off a preplan and get a new one if I am available early from and early drop.
They are paying me at 2 years exp. Which is what I expected, since I have less than 3 recent OTR. It is 38.5 cpm. and I will get my hazmat soon so it will boost to 39.5 for all miles. And they do very little hazmat.
Also for those nasty east coast runs. All miles east of I-83 are 4 cpm more.
So far so good. I am home for the weekend. I have to deliver Monday in Groveport OH between 0800 and 1500. Another Drop and hook lol.Last edited: Oct 24, 2009
Panhandle flash, jtrnr1951 and The Challenger Thank this. -
Not JJ but you cannot cannot cannot carry even with a ccw
-
If you don't know the answer...................................You can carry under certain circumstances. Check with your company, and each state you drive thru. Then you'll get the REAL answer !! I never leave my home state and I have a ccw, and my company doesn't care. So I'm legal. BUT-----Now shippers and receivers are a whole other story.....
poorrednek Thanks this. -
There is no actual trucking industry regulation on that.
It is more of a state to state regulation. You cannot carry the firearm across state lines, and your ccw is only good in your home state. A few states around yours will probably accept it, but that is about it.
Also I believe you would be looking at federal weapons transporting charges. None of these laws are specific to trucking. They are just laws on the books.
Carrying a weapon from where you purchased it to home is a totally different story. That you legally can do. Or to a trade show ect.
But you cannot run around doing your loads with it lol. So it all amounts to the same thing. You cannot bring it.LADYANDTHETRAMP Thanks this. -
Not trying to scare ya off man, Im just saying that the facility (from pics mind you) looks a hell of a lot nicer out in Utah. Plus the mountain driving during training would be a plus. Atlanta is dooable for 2 weeks though and if its my only option then so be it. They do have a break room and a pool table (so bring some quarters if youre up for a few games) I was just dissapointed with the lack-luster skid pad, if you can call it such. I just want my cdl and to get in a truck so I'll do whatever is required to get there. So I figure whats two weeks really? getting out with a trainer on live loads is what really counts IMO. Hope to see ya there, anyone else on here going to conley on the 2nd?

Ya'll keep on kickn' arse! Congrats fellas, I will be right behind ya!! Any advise? What was the most challenging aspect?
Thanks___Bryan

My permit is good in 11 states and if you look at laws there is no law saying you cant carry it in a truck and there is no law saying you can. Which is like open carry here in Va. No law says you can or cant therefor you break no laws.
Of course your permit would have to be accepted in every state you travel which as a 48 state driver thats impossible seein as how Ill will not allow the carry of firearms. Anyway now back to the central ref truck stop lol -
Not that close, We are hoping to drop our load on Sunday and get somethin outta there Monday.
Outta there on Monday hopefully.
Congrats Guys!
