you can always go to Wal-Mart and check out the memory foam bed toppers they have there. the ones i've seen range in thickness of 1" up to 4". keep in mind the thicker the foam the higher the price. What i did was take a sleeping bag laid it down and put the memory foam on top of it and used a set of water bed sheets i had laying around to keep everything wrapped up and in place. it has worked out great.

There are a dozen different sizes, unfortunately you are going to have to measure.

    38" x 75" x 6.5"
    38" x 80" x 6.5"

When hes home, just go out and say you will tidy up for him, and take measurements. Most will be about 78 inches long by 34 inches wide, but depends on the model and length of sleeper ive found. And when buying an expensive mattress, it pays to be sure on size before you buy. but you can also get some nice toppers in the walmart or sams club and cut them to fit and sew the fabric cover up real nice if you wanted to go that route if your not allowed to take out mattress per company policy.

yeah I was gonna say the same thing that packerfan said, if its a suprise hide a measuring tape on you tell him "hon im going to clean up alittle bit for you have a small broom on you a bag ectt. sweep and all that good stuff then when hes not paying attention take your measurements. Hell when me and My better half was OTR teaming, she was the one who maintained the truck inside and I did the outside. I do my own windows, I like my windows spotless no glar nothing. so anyways take the measure ments,,, make sure that you install whatever you get when he takes his shower. that should give you what maybe an hour and a half tops, good luck... let us know how suprised he is afterwards.

My sense of humor..... I can picture a "Memory Foam" saying "Ohno. I remember what you did on me last night with that raunchy lizard" and spitting you out on the floor.

Or..... getting one with a female memory an having to sweet-talk it and buy it flowers before it'll let you back in the bunk again.
