OTR is coast to coast.
Regional is within a defined region near your home.
For example; here's a regional for one company, in blue:

For me, personally, I hated regional and hated local. Made me feel like a horse wearing hobbles.
OTR and I was happy and content. Gave me the chance to regularly see the whole country and gave me the opportunity to find a nice future retirement area that's warm with no snow & Ice. -
Yeah I agree with CHINATOWN. Go OTR, see all the country. However i will say running Ca.-Ga. for instance will get boring doing the I-10/I-20 route. If you do furniture, you will run backroads a lot. FYI

regional in the northeast? hell no.
regional in the southeast. sure.nredfor88, bryan21384, Dockbumper and 1 other person Thank this. -
Western regional can get you decent miles along with some chaining on the mountain passes. Regional usually gets you home more often.
