Being more familiar with the ISX engines, I am not as up to snuff on the needs of a paccar MX 13. I know at 500K on the cummins you want to do a bottom end. So what should I do to make sure I dont have catastrophic failure on the road?
BTW if some future person stumbles on this thread, the trick to get a MX13 home after a bad derate is apparently to unhook the speed sensor. I've not tried it, but was told this is what can save me.
MX13 with 500K on the clock, suggested maintenance items?

How about reading the owners manual?

This is the info I am after. So I can carry a spare part to keep the truck running if I have a breakdown. Had been planning to carry an egr in the Cummins...Ruthless Thanks this. -
Wait. I have 735K on my ISX.

No reason to do a bottom end at 500k on a cummins. Mains/rods are only changed at inframes unless the engine has seen severe abuse.
Get a top set done, EGR flush and air managment sensors cleaned. Could replace the DEF filter too. Check it over for exhaust/fuel/coolant leaks. Inspect the idlers and belts.Diesel Dave, Ruthless, 062 and 1 other person Thank this. -
