injector f/c fmi 5 can be a faulty injector, some time on d12 the injeector spring broke and will code fmi 5, he shoud code fmi2 but that not the case. if spring look good, disconnect ecu connector and put a ohmeter to mesure resistance of the injector and wiggle harness, you shoud see a variation, there is a pigtail available for this commun problem
bravoo67 Thanks this. -
i ve made a mistake with SID number.. truck shows SID2 not 6 and it throws code/misfires when engine is very hot usually under load..
my mechanic is blaming some electronics in the injector
before I change it should I check resistance of the injector or the harness that goes to ECU.. how much should resistance be?
thank you -
Just popping in to pass tme, I have no clue what the code is for and im too lazy to look it up at the moment haha, just thought I would say I've seen hundreds of injector wiring harnesses go bad from vibration damage and/or oil leaking from rear head oil seal. may want to remove the valvecover and check the wiring for damage. Not a hard thing to do, takes about 15 minutes if you remove the air breather first.
bravoo67 Thanks this. -
mine is leaking really bad from rear seal.. will start with checking whats under the head cover.. thank you

It is very old thread but I have exactly the same problem.
Bravoo67, did you found out how to fix it?
I get the same code on my injector #5. It happens always and only when engine is hot and under the load. When coolant is above 185F and oil around 200F engine throws code and stars run on 5 cylinders only. Turning ignition off resets the problem but it comes back quickly if I do not to let the engine cool down. -
Sorry, Ive never solved that problem, sold the truck
nowadays I would go with injector, they like to fail when they reach specific temperature

Osus, did you fix the problem you had with your injector?
I have the same exact situation- changed it 3 times already.
After 15,000 miles it fails again
