LTL , food service, dairy, beverage (actually pays well in this area because of the difficult driving) etc etc. tankers, dump trucks, anything you need.

The absolute sheer driving force of our national economy - without truck drivers, our entire national economy would come to an absolute standstill - if not outright be dead.

Over the mountains, through the woods, into the valleys, coast to coast, from sea to shining sea - truck drivers can and do go anywhere and everywhere, every day, all year round.

 

. That is actually a fact for us people that live in cooler climates. Grass likes warm feet.

 

I agree it's about location. Even if there are really good jobs in a good area local gigs, I don't think someone is necessarily a fool for wanting to go OTR. There are people who like it better. They may not always broadcast it, but they prefer that sector of trucking. Each person has to figure out what's most important to them, or what their biggest needs are. The reality is, good paying local jobs are really not all that plentiful. Yes they are there, but they're few and far between

 

Well, if you prefer OTR, you go OTR. That goes without saying. The point remains the same, if a good paying local job is your goal, your chances of achieving that are greatly dependent on your location. Sure, there’s great local jobs everywhere, but the number of those great jobs (and someone’s chance of getting one) improve drastically in some areas.

But yes, if OTR is your preference, by all means go that route. That’s easily achievable in most areas
