In a short period of time I will be going to a large company and paying $1400 for a refresher course and leasing from them. This is something I'd rather not do.
I am a rookie driver with 6 months of refer experience, clean license, DAC, and DMV. No accidents and no incidents looking for a serious job offer in New England.
I currently live on Cape Cod in Mass. I have a Maine License and I need work. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions. I have until 11/09/2009 to find something else or commit to the Course and a rough road to say the least.
I run hard, and legal. I have experience as an Aircraft Mechanic (6 years) so you'll never get an "I dunno it's broke" call from me.
Additionally I am not a young'n so I'm not afraid of work, or running a full 11 hours before shutting down for the night. And I don't expect home time every weekend. Willing to be out for extended periods if need dictates.
Any serious help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

You own your own truck?
-
Unfortunately, No.
-
you haven't done much reading on here, have you? you're going to pay a company $1400 to go to work for them, then pay for their truck for them on top of that????? wasn't there a time when people got a job, and their company paid them, NOT the other way around? can this "country" get any more screwed up?73 FJ40 Thanks this. -
have you not read any of the topics on fleece option scams? -
why can't I post a reply?
-
Actually I have read a ton of the posts on here. And I fully understand the situation, but still at the moment they are my only option. I posted here looking for another viable option ... do you have a suggestion?
Thanks, Chief, but what I need here are viable alternatives. Can you help?

Do not sign any lease agreement that requires you to make a payment and yet does not have specific guarantee for the availability of loads that will allow you to make a living over and above paying for the lease. Without this guarantee they are guaranteed their money, and to get the truck back when you can't pay for it.
Run far Run fast. That is not a job it is a death warrant for your financial outlook. -
I understand, and will read the entire agreement. But there are CRE lease drivers that are making it ... barely ... but making it. I've personally spoken to a few.
At any rate, thanks for the advice.
